Heart 2 Heart Challenge -- something cold, something blue....

This weeks H2H challenge is testing our visual sensory skills by creating a card using any color/theme/idea which conveys "Cold". .... I have blue paper out the wazoo, but I couldn't help but think of my Aspen tidbits that I'm so hoardingly saving for something "special".  {eye roll at myself here!} ...hopefully, I'll think to pull this card out next winter and actually use it. :)

(Everything used here is CTMH except the crimper and snowflake punch.)

Mojo Monday - Sophia Paper

I had to use was already out on my desk and that's the most important factor in paper selection 90% of the time -- convenience! (And, NOT having to pick up my mess to do something new! )

Mojo Monday sketch:

My version:
I did only a 4x4 smaller scale required less embellishments I thought. Thanks for looking!

"I made a wish....." -- Sophia layout

Despite being practically bedridden for most of the week, I almost daydreamed about getting back in my scraproom. Be it desperation or my own undeniable nerdiness, I'm not sure -- but the results are the same... I finally got to do some creating and forget about holding the couch down. Friday night, I holed up in my room at my desk and the time flew by. (The sheer fact that I was able to concentrate on something that long without needing a nap was a testament to my recovery.) ..... A few hours alone with my new Sophia kit and I was in hog heaven.
I had picked out a layout the day before, so it went ideas were already there. (the hardest part).....I wanted to use some pictures from our this past vacation so far (St. Louis), but not make a vacation layout....I have more pictures than I know what to do with from that trip, so I need to get creative.....

And a close-up of the stamped embellishments, paper flowers (Daisy Doodles in Candy Pink by Prima Marketing), and buttons (CTMH's new Pink Assortment)...all other supplies used are CTMH. (well, ok -- there MAY have been a Martha Stewart border punch used...but everything ELSE is CTMH).....

Ooh, I almost forgot....the titles were printed on my computer using this delicious new font I purchased from name of it is SNFAmbrosia Bold....I used the CTMH RGB codes to print in Hollyhock and Goldrush. ...a few floating text boxes to allow overlap of the swirliers and voila! I'm the least techie person you'll meet, so this felt like a major accomplisment for me.

H2H - Stamp Kissing

This weeks H2H challenge is "Stamp Kissing". I rarely (ok,ok -never) use this technique and I should b/c the possibilties are so many. My 6-yr old flipped over it and started doing it herself. Another reason to scrap -- quality time with my girl!

This card is from my own sketch I put to paper the night before I made my card.
A strip of paper from the Emporium Level 2 paper packet, the Sarsasparilla Level 2 paper packet, and a strip from blah-blah-blah. (I had to - it matched so well!)
I used the "Rustic Alphabet" stamp, inked in Indian Corn Blue - 2nd generation - Rock N Rolled edges, and then stamp kissed the star from the "July Word Puzzle" in Outdoor Denim ink. I then cut out the letters and layered them over the original stamped letters (to get to the 2nd generation) using foam squares. (This was Avery's idea -- I was so proud! I got the good out of my original stampings -- we've been going green in this househould.) :)
"Birthday" is stamped in Indian Corn Blue using the "Spunky Alphabet" (retired). The stars are dimensional elements sponged in Outdoor Denim ink, as well.

Mojo Monday - Feb 7th

I loved all the "layers" and the depth that this sketch provides. There's so much going on with this one and so many possibilities of what to do with it.
I got wild and wooly and used a bracket instead of the tilted square next to the vertical piece. I loved the softer feel it gave the background piece, complementing the flowers and dress form. I was going for feminine!

This week's sketch....

My version....
In retrospect, I wish I had stamped the image more vertically centered....I'm not the best at vision before it's laid out. :)   Pin It

H2H Challenge -- My first!

I'm trying to motivate myself to make more cards and partly why I am enjoying these card sketch challenges. I'm all about scrapbooking layouts and don't spend as much time dedicated to cards. I never thought I would want to make cards when I started scrapbooking (and it TORE me up to "waste" good embellishments on a card that wouldn't last like a scrapbook page) ... but I'm moving past that now and also remind myself, it's a great way to get further use out of my growing stash of paper. ... as my Dad would say, I've got a load of paper that a showdog couldn't jump!

Mojo Monday - February

My first attempt at blogging!
Gina inspired me to start one so that I can share my artwork. I love the idea of these online sketch challenges and sharing with other scrappers. My favorite type of scrappin' activity is those where everyone begins with the same sketch and so many different ideas/interpretations are born. I did that here with the Mojo Monday card sketch/design challenge.
Cherry-O paper to the rescue. I was struck by an unexpected moment of inspiration this afternoon and raced upstairs at my first chance to put to paper what I could see in my mind.
It came out like I imagined....(and that is not always the case)!
